Geo-je Children's Choir from Geoje, South Korea

The Goe-je Children’s Choir was founded in 2005 on the island of Geoje in South Korea. He keeps up an active exchange with musicians and choirs from other countries, such as from Germany (choir of the Laborschule Dresden), Czech Republic, Vietnam and Austria (Vienna Boys Choir).
The choir has the motto: “We make the world more beautiful by singing, we love our neighbors, we care about the environment and we will break through the walls of classes and races in the world.” In this sense, the choir organizes numerous free concerts and is therefore not only known in Geoje, but also throughout Korea.

The choir has already won many prizes in competitions. Among others, he won the grand prize at the Korea Creative Children’s Song Contest (4 victories in a row), the Grand Prix at the largest choir competition in Korea, Chorus Korea, and the Harmony Prize of the KBS National Choir Contest ‘The Harmony’. A prize from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport at the SBS Traffic Creation Competition is also among the awards.
Choir director Lee Hyeong-Ye won 1st prizes in the Conductors’ Award of the Korea Choral Organizing Committee twice .
The choir participated with great success at the International Children’s Choir Festival in Halle (Saale) in 2017 and was awarded top marks by the chairman of the jury for the song “Lotus”.

The choir has also performed musicals such as “The Sound of Music”, “Annie”, “The Wizard of Oz” and many others.
In 2018, the choir was invited by Vietnam TV to the Asia Music Festival as Korean ambassador.
The Geo-je Children’s Choir and the choir of the Laborschule Dresden already performed in two frindship concerts together one each in Germany and South Korea.
