Tutarchela Choir from Rustavi, Georgia

The youth and children’s choir ‘Tutarchela’ (engl.: moonlight) is led by Tamar Buadze, who has studied choral conducting and singing at the State Conservatory in Tbilisi. She is director of the Rustavi Folklore Music School in Rustavi since 2006.

The Tutarchela Youth Choir was founded in 2009. In separate age groups, up to 100 girls and boys between the ages of 10 and 18 are singing in this choir, all of them students of the music school.
The repertoire of the choir is far ranging. The children and teenagers sing and dance the traditional Georgian polyphonic folk, many of them learn and play also the traditional Georgian instruments. Also they sing and interpret international classical and modern music (pop and rock music). A special focus here is on German music: the choir sings German folk songs arranged by Tamar Buadze, German classical music (Bach, Händel) as well as German pop songs.

The Children and Youth Choir has been increasingly successful both in Georgia and abroad. Among other things, the older adolescents participated with great success in the 2016 European Youth Choir Festival in Basel.
In August 2017, 35 young people were guests in Bad Hersfeld and along with the local youth choir they sang with great attention and with great success at the final concerts of the Bad Hersfeld Festival.
