International Children's Choir Festival Dresden 2016

28th April – 3rd May 2016

Already for the 6th time we were able to implement the International Children’s Choir Festival Dresden. Every time, it is the biggest challenge to collect all financial means for a successful festival. For the first time we launched a smaller crowdfunding action on 99Funken.de to finance our opening concert and it was very successfully. We thank all supporters and donors. In addition, we were able to help the children’s choir of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina from Egypt with the help of the Goethe Institute and the Foreign Office to finance their travel expenses. We are also very thankful for expanding our cooperation with the Dresdner Philharmonie. It will be further expanded in 2018 in the newly opened Kulturpalast.

2016 was a very colorful festival with many different facets between the choirs. We welcomed choirs from Russia, Egypt, Austria, Hungary and South Korea. From the girls ‘choir and the classical mixed children’s choir to the boys’ choir, all forms were represented this year, which made up the diversity of the program. For the first time our opening concert took place in the Boulevard Theater Dresden, which had welcomed us very warmly. Our encounter concert enjoyed so much popularity that we had to relocate the second concert from the parish hall of Christ Church Strehlen and the larger church space. After successful workshops and leisure activities, such as Toursitik Day and the final fest, the festival once again had a glamorous ending with the premiere of the Austrian composer Franz M. Herzog entitled “Bridge of Hope”.
