The Philharmonic Children’s Choir looks back on more than 40 successful years. It belongs to the leading children’s choirs of Germany. The choir is essential for the Dresden musical life and acts as a messenger of Dresden`s musical culture both in Germany and abroad. Proof of this history are numerous concert tours to famous musical cities in its home country and overseas.

Besides a-cappella concerts in Italy, France, Spain, Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium, Hungary, England the choir sang Beethoven’s 9th Symphony at the Festival Theatre Salzburg, Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam as well as at the Congress Centre in Bucharest. Concert tours over several weeks to Japan, China, Australia, Namibia, South Africa and the United States of America are listed as major experiences for the children of the Philharmonic Choir. They were holding successful, plentiful concerts at the Cologne Cathedral, the Cathedrals of Meissen, Coventry, Palma de Mallorca, Budapest and Dresden as well as at Concert Halls of Tokyo, Kyoto, Boston, Chicago, Sydney, Melbourne, Peking and Shanghai for the local audience. Through the participation in various broadcast productions the ensemble could distinguish itself. For the Warner Bros. “Laura’s Star” movie the choir music was produced by the Philharmonic Children’s Choir. Being part of the American-German movie production „The Reader” immensely increased the highprofile of the choir.

Many compositions were premiered, e. g. by Rainer Lischka, Georg Katzer, Guenter Neubert and Joerg Herchet. The famous piece “Maga musica” by Wilfried Kraetzschmar was composed on the occasion of the first International Children’s Choir Festival at the Frauenkirche in Dresden in 2008.

In many national and international competitions the choir has won first places.
